Search for “crypto casino NZ” and you'll find sites that take only coins and others that simply add crypto to the cashier. Fair Go is the second kind. Its banking page lists 6 crypto options next to cards and vouchers, with deposits from $5 and payouts in Bitcoin. Here's how that works for a New Zealand player, and what to watch for. We read the banking page on 7 October 2026.

What a crypto casino NZ players use actually offers
At a casino like Fair Go, crypto is just another way to move money in and out. The games, the bonus terms and the limits are the same as for a card deposit. What changes is the payment itself: it goes from your wallet to the casino's address with no bank involved, it can't be reversed, and the value of the coin can move while it's in transit.
Check how the cashier shows your balance after a crypto deposit. Many casinos convert coins into a currency balance on arrival, which means your winnings are worked out in dollars, not coins. Amounts on this site are shown as Fair Go lists them.
Coins Fair Go accepts, and the minimums
| Coin | Minimum deposit | Withdrawals? |
|---|---|---|
| Bitcoin | $25 | Yes, free |
| Lightning Bitcoin | $5 | No |
| USDT | $25 | No |
| Ether | $25 | No |
| Litecoin | $10 | No |
| Bitcoin Cash | $10 | No |
Fair Go lists every crypto deposit as free and instant on its side. Your wallet or exchange will still charge a network fee to send the coins, and that fee varies with how busy the network is. Our deposit guide compares crypto with the card, voucher and bank options.
Bitcoin casino NZ: Bitcoin is the only crypto cash-out route
This matters more than the deposit list. Fair Go's withdrawal options are Bitcoin (free), eZeeWallet (free), Wire Transfer ($50 fee). So if you deposit in USDT, Ether, Litecoin or Bitcoin Cash, your winnings come back as Bitcoin, or by eZeeWallet or wire. Make sure you have a Bitcoin wallet ready before you need it.
The usual limits still apply: $100–$2,500 per transfer, up to $7,500 AUD a week, and processing within 2 business days after verification. Our withdrawals guide works through what those limits mean for a bigger balance.
Lightning: the low-minimum option
Lightning is a payment layer that settles Bitcoin quickly and cheaply, and at Fair Go it has the lowest minimum of any method: $5. You'll need a wallet that supports Lightning, and you'll usually pay by scanning an invoice the cashier creates. Lightning appears only on Fair Go's deposit list, so plan to withdraw in ordinary Bitcoin.
Making a crypto deposit from New Zealand
- Get coins into a wallet you control. A common route is to buy through a New Zealand exchange, then move the coins to your own wallet.
- Open Fair Go's cashier and choose the coin. Copy the deposit address or scan the QR code it shows.
- Check the network. USDT and some other coins exist on several networks. Send only on the network the cashier names, or the coins may be lost.
- Send at least the minimum, allowing for your wallet's network fee.
- Wait for confirmations, then check the balance before you play. Keep the transaction ID.
The promotions page doesn't say whether every code works with crypto. If you want WELCOME or another bonus on a crypto deposit, confirm with live chat first, and see the bonus guide for the wagering that comes with it.
Risks to weigh before you pay in crypto
- Price swings. A coin can lose value between buying it, depositing it and withdrawing your winnings.
- No chargebacks. A crypto payment can't be clawed back the way a card payment sometimes can. Treat every send as final.
- Address and network mistakes are permanent. Copy and paste, then check the first and last characters.
- Scams. No genuine support agent will ever ask for your seed phrase or private key. Be wary of “recovery services” that promise to get lost coins back for a fee.
- Records and tax. Keep a log of every buy, send and receive. Inland Revenue publishes guidance on crypto-assets if you're unsure how it applies to you.
Crypto and the 1 December 2026 rule change
Paying in crypto doesn't put a casino outside New Zealand's rules. From 1 December 2026, offshore casinos without a licence application must stop offering online casino gambling to people here, whatever currency they take. Be suspicious of crypto-only sites that advertise themselves as a way round the new law, and don't use a VPN to reach a site that has stopped serving NZ. The 2026 law guide and our page on whether online gambling is legal in NZ explain the change.
Crypto can make it easier to spend more than you meant to, because it doesn't feel like money in the same way. Set a limit in dollars before you start. Free help is available from the Gambling Helpline on 0800 654 655 (or free text 8006).
Crypto casino NZ: questions
Is it legal to use crypto at an online casino from NZ?
Paying with crypto doesn't change the rules. New Zealand's online casino law applies to the casino whatever payment method you use, and from 1 December 2026 offshore casinos without a licence application must stop serving NZ. Our guide to whether online gambling is legal in NZ explains where players stand.
Which cryptocurrencies does Fair Go accept?
Fair Go's banking page lists Bitcoin ($25), Lightning Bitcoin ($5), USDT ($25), Ether ($25), Litecoin ($10), Bitcoin Cash ($10), all shown as free and instant deposits.
Can I withdraw in USDT or Ether?
Not according to Fair Go's banking page. Bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency on its withdrawal list, alongside eZeeWallet and wire transfer.
Can I play pokies with Bitcoin from NZ at Fair Go?
Yes, by depositing it. Fair Go's banking page lists Bitcoin from $25, or $5 with Lightning Bitcoin. The deposit goes into your Fair Go balance, which plays across the lobby, pokies included, and Bitcoin is also on the withdrawal list.
Are crypto withdrawals faster at Fair Go?
Fair Go's 2 business days processing time applies to every method once you're verified. After that, a Bitcoin payout usually lands sooner than a wire because no bank sits in the middle.
Do I need to tell IRD about crypto I use for gambling?
Inland Revenue has guidance on crypto-assets, and buying, selling or swapping coins can have tax consequences in some situations. Keep records of every transaction and check IRD's guidance or ask a tax adviser about your own position.
